EUROTECH's Acoustic Core™ Remote Sensing Technology Demonstrated Capable of
October 5, 2001
The AC technology has been proposed to the US government for use as an add-on capability to existing airport x-rays systems as a high-speed, automatic detector of plastic explosives, which are transparent to commonly used high-speed inspection technologies. The limited explosive testing currently done at airports is slow and requires significant human operational support. AC can be deployed in fixed or portable equipment as a cost effective, automatic and instantaneous detector of C4 explosive, scanning 100% of containers from suitcase size to container trucks.
Acoustic Core uses a patented process for analyzing the acoustic signature of a material and accurately characterizes its constituent components. AC is capable of detecting a wide variety of illicit materials in addition to C4 explosive and therefore significantly enhance security in transportation, shipping, and protected facilities. The worldwide market opportunity for a fully automatic technology capable of high-speed, non-intrusive inspection and detection of explosives exceeds $100 million per year. With the current emphasis on safety and security from terrorists' acts, AC is being marketed to shipping and transportation detection system manufacturers and Department of Defense contractors.
