2012 Passaic County Computer And Electronics Recycling Collection Dates Announced

Wayne Passaic County Office of Solid Waste & Recycling Programs announced the following dates for the 2012 Computer and Electronics Recycling collection events.

The first collection will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine,  Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12  at the Passaic County Para-Transit Facility, 1310 Route 23 north in Wayne, behind Ski Barn.

The second collection will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29 at the Passaic County Para-Transit Facility, 1310 Route 23 north in Wayne, behind Ski Barn.

This collection event is free to all Passaic County residents. Businesses must pre-register by calling 973-305-5738.

Almost all types of computer and electronic equipment will be accepted, said Nina Seiden, Solid Waste & Recycling Program Manager

Residents may bring monitors, hard drives, printers, keyboards, modems, copier and fax machines, television sets, radios, VCRs and stereo systems as well as CD players and old telephone systems and cell phones. Ink jet and laser toner cartridges also accepted.

“There is a need to safely discard unwanted computer and electronic equipment, which is the law in New Jersey,” said Seiden.

By participating in these events, Passaic County residents and businesses will be recycling this e-waste into other useful products, keeping them out of our diminishing landfill space, and prohibiting a variety of toxins, such as lead, mercury, and cadmium from entering our groundwater, she said.
