Clancy Introduces PureLand - A Better E-Waste Recycling Service

Clancy announced today a new e-waste recycling service is available for businesses in the NY/NJ/CT marketplace.

Pattterson, NY (PRWEB) - Clancy announced today a new e-waste recycling service is available for businesses in the NY/NJ/CT marketplace. This is an environmentally responsible solution to e-waste not widely available today. Clancy is developing the PureLand consortium to enable nationwide growth. And one of Clancy’s business partners, Geodis, is behind the scenes with an e-waste recycling operation that is revolutionary.

All businesses and consumers are all dealing with a problem. The electronics that we discard contain toxins such as mercury, lead, cadmium and brominated flame retardants. They are just some of the things found in electronics that can cause nervous system damage, respiratory problems and other serious health problems.

Some Stats
It is estimated there are 20-50 million metric tons of e-waste disposed of ever year worldwide. Last year, 80 to 85% of e-waste was discarded in landfills or incinerators. Today, only 12.5% of e-waste is recycled. When e-waste is collected today, it can be packed in containers and sent overseas where reckless and irresponsible methods are used to extract value from the raw materials. Those processes pollute the air and water. The pollution eventually spreads across the globe.

The Clancy Story
Since 2003, Clancy has been providing e-waste logistics solutions for select large clients. Clancy handles roughly 4.5 million pounds per year for those clients. Meanwhile, other Clancy clients have needed a responsible solution for e-waste recycling too. “We did not know if the need was being solved responsibly for our other customers. Some of our customers did not know either. When they pressed for answers, some learned the worst. We knew we needed to make our solution available to our other customers and the rest of the marketplace.” John Clancy.

Efforts to expand the service began in January 2014. Clancy launched the PureLand solution with help from its recycling partner, Geodis, to create a low cost solution. John Yesensky, Business Development Manager at Geodis said, “We have developed the most stringent process for e-waste in the industry. With Clancy, we were confident we could develop a plan to handle smaller scale e-waste in the same responsible manner. Our R2 certification is just one of several standards we meet to confidently deliver the best solution possible” Since then, Clancy has brought the PureLand solution to several customers and has developed weekly routes for pickup.

Forward Thinking Partners
Clancy has already sponsored several events in the region including an e-waste collection at WEXPO; the annual trade show for the Westchester Business Council. Business Council of Westchester President and CEO, Marsha Gordon said, “After successfully launching the Westchester Green Business Challenge (WGBC), and promoting  E Waste recycling at the Westchester Business Expo, responsible E-waste recycling has proven to be yet another way for Westchester’s business community to lead the way towards a cleaner and more sustainable environment.”

Another Clancy partner, Progressive Computing CEO, Robert Cioffi, was the one who dreamed up the WEXPO e-waste event and has been an e-waste evangelist to the local business community for years. “Mishandled e-waste is the ‘dirty little secret’ that some businesses are unwittingly dumping on irresponsible providers. Every office has its ‘boneyard’ of old and broken down electronics that grows until, at some point, it’s too much. Convenience and low cost have been the most important factors for businesses. I want businesses to know they can have both along with a responsible solution.”

The PureLand Consortium
Going forward, Clancy will continue developing PureLand as a consortium in cities around the US. Commercial movers, for example, are in and out of offices each day with the resources needed to handle e-waste. Smarter logistical solutions will make it easier for businesses to clean out their e-waste periodically. Having all e-waste handled properly in the near future is a vision Clancy believes is possible. There will be pressure to do it the right way but the solutions are available. PureLand will help make it happen.
