Power for the hauler comes from a 380-hp Caterpillar C12 diesel, rated at 1,450 ft-lb of torque at 1,800 rpm. That power runs through a Meritor 15.5-in. two-plate ceramic clutch and a 9-speed Eaton-Fuller RT-14709H transmission with an aluminum clutch housing. The tractor also has a single frame-mounted vertical exhaust and a Holland Fleetmaster stationary fifth wheel.
The front axle is rated at 12,000 lb, with a 12,000-lb capacity taperfleaf suspension with 54-in. springs for a smooth ride, plus large shackle pins for added durability. The tandem drive axle bogie is a 40,000-lb Meritor RT-40-145A with an aluminum carrier, while the rear suspension is a 40,000-lb capacity AirLiner Extra Duty air suspension.
The cab is constructed of aluminum fitted together in a modular framing buck for precise panel alignment and fully welded for strength. The cab rides on an air-ride suspension for driver comfort and durability.
