The innovative program aims to reduce carbon emissions and expand recycling efforts while saving taxpayer money
Miami, FL /PRNewswire/ - Today, the City of Miami announced the launch of a new partnership with Compology, the nation's leading sustainable waste metering company, to help the City better manage its waste. The initiative will equip city dumpsters with rugged smart cameras that take photos of the inside of dumpsters to measure how much and what types of waste are present. The effort will modernize the City's recycling infrastructure while reducing waste collection costs by a projected 30 to 40 percent. The cameras will be installed in City dumpsters at municipal buildings, police and fire stations, and parks, including Marlins Park.

This partnership comes on the heels of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez's announced commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 60 percent citywide and for Miami to become carbon neutral by 2050.
