Clinton Signs Uranium Recycling Bill

The Associated Press reported that President Clinton had signed legislation on July 22 that would provide U.S.$400 million to build uranium-recycling plants in Piketon, OH, and Paducah, KY.

The new plants will be run by just-privatized United States Enrichment Corp. Construction, according to the AP, must start no later than January 31, 2004, but could begin as early as the end of 1999.

The AP said that the bill requires the president to include the plan in the 2000 budget.
