Composite Lining Solution

The GundSeal GCL is a hydraulically advanced lining product that combines a 12 mil to 80 mil (0.3 mm to 2.0 mm) HDPE geomembrane with the swelling and sealing ability of high grade sodium bentonite. The bentonite is attached to the geomembrane using a non-toxic non-polluting adhesive. Together, this double barrier system acts as a self-sealing composite liner. It can be utilized as a replacement for a compacted clay liner (CCL) or as a one product composite liner system (geomembrane/clay). It is well suited for landfill liners/caps, solid/liquid containment impoundments, secondary containment, and many other non-exposed liner or cap projects. Compatibility of the bentonite coating with the project leachate must be evaluated for each application. Features include:

•GundSeal is simply unrolled, no heavy equipment needed
•Less permeable than compacted clay liners or fabric encased GCLs
•True intimate contact exists between the bentonite and overlying/underlying geomembranes
•The geomembrane backing adds protection against installation damage
•Can be installed to replace compacted clay requirements resulting in air space savings reduced construction costs
•Can be used as a one product composite liner (geomembrane/clay) with weldable seams
•Gundseal is not affected by freeze/thaw cycles and wet/dry cycles
