EUROTECH Receives Contract for RAD-X Product Application at Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site

EUROTECH, Ltd. announced today that it received a contract to deliver its new RAD-X fixadent product to Kaiser-Hill LLC, the company in charge of remediating the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (RFETS), a DOE facility formerly used for production of key nuclear materials for the U.S. weapons program.

RAD-X was specifically designed to address the needs of DOE contractors to contain surface radioactive contamination while safely dismantling machinery and workplace equipment such as glove boxes used in processing nuclear materials. The RAD-X product, a mineral silicate-based liquid that can be applied with most commercial airless sprayers, is being produced for Eurotech by a toll production facility in Lynchburg, Virginia.

RAD-X was developed through the joint efforts of Eurotech's Advanced Performance Materials (APM) and Nuclear & Environmental Technology Solutions (NETS) divisions. RAD-X adheres tightly to nearly all types of contaminated surfaces, trapping the contaminants in place, and has excellent fire retardant properties. RAD-X has significant performance advantages over other products used by contractors at RFETS for dismantlement applications, including better surface adhesion and resistance to "peel-back" as the equipment is being cut up for volume reduction. The initial RAD-X contract is for a limited quantity to allow evaluation under actual conditions with results expected by the end of October. The overall market for this type of product is estimated to be in the order of five million gallons per year.

Eurotech's Chairman, Chad A. Verdi, stated, "This is one of Eurotech's first steps toward establishing a long term relationship with contractors throughout the DOE complex and providing long-term solutions to the nuclear environmental problems. We have already performed several significant EKOR and RAD-X product demonstrations at various sites. We will be sharing the results from these projects with our shareholders over the next few weeks."
