Gas Technology Products LLC Announces The Sale Of Three LO-CAT Hydrogen Sulfide Oxidation Units To JFE Engineering For Waste Gasification Plants
The handling of municipal solid waste is one of the growing challenges for many governments around the world for the 21st century. JFE Engineering is one of the world's leaders in developing and applying new technology that converts the municipal waste into a synthetic gas, which is burned in gas engines to create electricity.
One of the challenges in converting the gas to electricity is the removal of hydrogen sulfide from the gas prior to generating electricity. JFE selected GTP's LO-CAT sulfur removal technology because of GTP's experience in waste gasification plants, low operating cost, and GTP's proprietary mobile bed absorber contactor, which provides high sulfur removal efficiency, low pressure drop, and good operating reliability.
The three plants are currently under construction. Commissioning for the plants is expected to begin in November, 2004 for Kurashiki, January, 2005 for Isahaya and April, 2005 for Tokushima.
