GFL Environmental Buys Turtle Island Recycling

Toronto, Ontario --(Marketwire) - Two of Southern Ontario's leading waste management companies are making industry history today.

Green for Life (GFL) Environmental Corp. and Turtle Island Recycling (TIR) Corp. have announced the merger of their operations, creating Southern Ontario's largest waste management company.

GFL, already one of Canada's fastest growing full-service waste management companies, announced today that it has officially purchased TIR, one of Southern Ontario's largest recycling and waste management companies.

The GFL-Turtle Island combination has created a One-Stop Shop for waste management and recycling services in Southern Ontario. With 10 transfer and recycling stations, a soil remediation facility and three liquid waste storage and treatment facilities - GFL can process more than 2 million tonnes of soil, solid waste and recyclables each year.

This includes the recently awarded contract to supply residential waste collection to the City of Toronto's District 2 which covers the west end commencing August 2012.

"This deal doesn't just mean we're now Southern Ontario's largest waste management company - it also means we can offer our customers more services in more locations than ever before. We're quite pleased to be welcoming TIR's seasoned professionals into the GFL group of companies" states GFL's President, Founder, and CEO, Patrick Dovigi .

"Joining the GFL team means we can now offer even more convenience, more savings, and more service solutions than any other company in the waste management industry," says Turtle Island Recycling CEO and Co-Founder, Louis Anagnostakos.
