Giant Cement and Pinnacle Waste announce new aerosol disposal company

Giant Cement Holdings Inc. (GCHI) of Summerville, SC and Pinnacle Waste Services Inc. (Pinnacle) of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada announced that they have formed a joint venture, Giant Resource Recovery Aerosols, Inc. (GRR Aerosols), to process and dispose of large quantities of fully or partly full off-specification and waste aerosol and paint cans. GRR Aerosols will continue to process aerosol cans in their existing plant just west of Toronto, Canada until the new state of the art facility, under construction at GCHI's Arvonia, VA lightweight aggregate facility, is complete in early 2001.

Rich Familia, president of Giant Resource Recovery, said Pinnacle has developed the latest and most advanced technology available for processing aerosol cans. GRR Aerosol will handle aerosols, small containers of paint and industrial chemicals, and certain household and consumer products.

Giant Aerosols' innovative patented process separates the gaseous and liquid components and compacts the cans in a 100% fully closed recycling system. The gasses and liquids will be used as a fuel source at the company's lightweight aggregate kiln.

Giant Cement Holding, Inc. owns Keystone and Giant Cement, and Solite Corporation. These companies manufacture and sell portland and masonry cement products, and lightweight aggregate and blocks throughout the Eastern United States.

Giant's family of resource recovery companies includes Giant Resource Recovery Co., (ORB) Omni, M&M Chemical, Giant Resource Recovery (Oldover) and Giant Aerosols.
