Manufacturer's literature describes how a single, tightly engineered, compact plant combines flocculation, dissolved air flotation and filtration. These complementary technologies are said to make FLOFILTER an economical and versatile system for potable, process and tertiary wastewater applications. The system operates with high surface loading rates - 4 gpm/sq. ft - which allows for a space-saving, compact design. It typically operates with separation rates 10 times faster than conventional sedimentation. Floated sludge is 2-6% dry solids, and chemical costs are said to be 15-30% less than conventional sedimentation systems. Two-stage flocculation ensures efficient chemical usage.
