Honda's Technology Allows Fully Recyclable Instrument Panels
Honda Motor Co. on November 8 claimed to have developed a process for fully recycling automobile instrument panels. The company says that its technique reuses the resin from a single polyolefin material for base material and outer skin. (Current panels combine ABS and PVC resins.)
Honda attributed its technology improvement to its proprietary polypropylene blending technology, molding methodology complicated forms, and its highly adhesive denatured olefin primer.
The company said that it plans to apply the technology during its next fiscal year. Since the process extends to other components, Honda feels that plastic industrial waste from cars can be cut 50 percent.
