Michigan Recovery Systems changing its name to EQ Resource Recovery

New name reflects an evolution toward material recovery and strengthens ties with EQ organization

Michigan Recovery Systems, Inc. announced today that it is changing its name to EQ Resource Recovery, Inc., effective April 1, 2001.

Michigan Recovery Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of EQ – The Environmental Quality Company, is a full service solvent recovery, chemical recycling and fuel blending facility located in Romulus, Michigan.

"We've aggressively expanded Michigan Recovery's service capabilities over the past five years to emphasize industrial byproduct recycling and recovery," explained EQ President David Lusk. "The new name reflects this change and strengthens EQ's position as an innovative, full-service environmental organization."

Lusk said EQ Resource Recovery, Inc. has enhanced its ability to meet a wide variety of environmental challenges by adding several new service lines, including: non hazardous wastewater treatment; advanced chemical recycling; and oil-water separation and oil recovery. The facility also achieved ISO 9002 certification last fall and recently installed an advanced thermal oxidation air treatment system to minimize VOC emissions and virtually eliminate off-site odors.

"EQ has invested millions of dollars to upgrade and improve this facility over the past few years," said Patrick Sullivan, general manager of EQ Resource Recovery. "We play an important role in the organization's strategy to manage a full range of byproducts and waste materials, so it makes sense to emphasize to our customers that we're part of the EQ family of companies."

EQ – The Environmental Quality Company is a fully integrated environmental services organization with more than 45 years of industry experience. Based in Wayne, Michigan, EQ manages high quality treatment, disposal and recycling facilities, supported by an extensive line of remediation, industrial cleaning and in-plant services. EQ is the largest privately held environmental services organization in Michigan, generating annual revenues of $120 million from operations in the United States and Argentina.
