N-Viro Accelerates Biosolids Treatment Process

N-Viro International Corp. has attenuated the drying time of its system for producing organic soil amendments from sludge. The English N-Viro System uses totally enclosed, circulatory drying and material movement, plus exothermically generated heat to reduce evaporation and subsequent product drying to about a day, according to company claims. It has been developed and successfully used by N-Viro process licensee Anglian Water in Rochford, England, for more than a year. The company reports that the capital cost of the new system is slightly more than that for the traditional system; however, operating and net distribution costs are competitive. The company plans to introduce the system into the U.S. and elsewhere in the immediate future.
