Peterson's Horizontal Recycler Side-Removal Screen System Receives Patent

Eugene, OR — Peterson Pacific (Peterson) recently obtained US patent number 6,910,647 for the company's side-removal screen system utilized on the Peterson 1410, 4700B and 6700B families of recyclers. The patent and claims cover the system that permits side removal, and simplified method of tightening the screen supports from the outside of the recycler. Neil Peterson, company President, and project engineer Pete Alford are the inventors of this system.
This unique screen removal system reduces the time and complexity of changing screens, while improving safety. Working at ground level, operators can readily change screens to suit the sizing requirement of each product. With Peterson's up-cutting, three-stage sizing process, many products can be consistently sized at maximum production rates by using progressively larger screen openings away from the anvil. When many different products are produced, the time saving for screen changes can be substantial.
"We estimate that the time savings for a screen change is 30 minutes. If you have 100 screen changes every year that's 50 hours of operating time. If you look at just the time savings from screen changes on an annual basis an operator could easily save $20,000," says Neil.
The side-removal screen system allows for rapid customization of the screen configuration, which is one of the reasons for the superior production and product consistency from a Peterson horizontal recycler.
