Hitachi Zosen began introduced their new their equipment that converts the pollutant in tap and
sewage water into pellets that can be reused as fertilizer or as a fuel source. Hitachi has centered
sale of this equipment around the wastewater and farming populations.
The equipment is a cylinder tank with a diameter of two to four meters and a height of 10 to 20 meters. It has a multi-layered series of parallel heat transfer panels and a rotating arm rake. The pollutant is inserted from the top to the tank, heated to high temperatures and then stirred with the rake over the series of heat panels. The process turns the material into pellets of two or four millimeters in diameter.
