Quadra In Discussion With A Major Electronic Device Manufacturer To Establish Plants To Treat "E Waste"
Las Vegas, NV - (Marketwire) - QUADRA PROJECTS INC. ("Quadra" or the "Company") (OTCBB: QPRJ), its stock quoted on the OTC BB under the trading symbol "QPRJ," is pleased to announce that the Company has received interest from a major electronic device manufacturer who has recognized the international environmental problems associated with disposal of electronic waste such as surplus, obsolete, broken, electrical or electronic devices ("E-Waste"). The present methods of disposal have the potential to cause serious health and pollution problems because electronic equipment contains a number of very serious contaminants such as lead, cadmium, beryllium and brominated flame retardants, all of which are significant risks to the workers involved as well as communities. Great care must be taken to avoid unsafe exposure and leaching of material in recycling operations.
The internationally recognized Basel Convention or its Ban Amendment is not recognized by the United States which has no domestic laws forbidding the export of toxic waste. Estimates are that much of the electronic waste in the U.S. is packed in shipping containers and sent to third world countries for disposal.
To overcome the negative public perception created by this; Quadra and Ecobiosol Inc. have been in discussions with a major electronic device supplier to build a plant in the US capable of assembling a minimum of 100 QES2000 Systems per year, with the objective of producing QES Plants to treat E-Waste in the United States. Further there is an increasing awareness of this problem by Congress, which has resulted in passage of legislation known as the "Green Energy Education Act" requiring the EPA to give merit-based grants to develop new approaches to recycling and the reduction of hazardous materials in electronic devices; all of which bodes well for Quadra's leading edge pyrolysis technology.
Discussions center on the synergies of Joint Venturing with these companies and the revenue possibilities that exist with the use of Quadra's pyrolysis technology.
For purposes of illustration:
"A ton of used mobile phones, or approximately 6,000 handsets (a tiny fraction of today's 1 billion annual production) -- contains approximately 3.5 kilograms of silver, 340 grams of gold, 140 grams of palladium, and 130 kilograms of copper. The average mobile phone battery contains another 3.5 grams of copper. Combined value: over US$15,000 at today's prices.
"Recovering these metals with Quadra's state-of-the-art cost effective pyrolysis process, generates a small fraction of the CO2 emissions, land degradation and hazardous emissions caused by mining them."
Electronic device manufacturers can offer their world-wide expertise in marketing and research, while Quadra can offer these companies a leading edge technology, which can address the public's concern surrounding the toxic problems associated with the disposal of these devices, while at the same time offering a major revenue stream for the joint venture and the Company.
Management of the Company is of the opinion that the patented QES 2000 System is the most advanced pyrolysis and gasification system in the world, specifically designed to convert all organic waste such as palm husks (including used tires, plastic waste, e-waste and municipal waste etc,) to valuable by-products such as N220 carbon black, biochar fertilizer, and/or fuel oil or fuel gas for the production of electrical power, without any measurable environmental pollution or ash to be land filled. The QES2000 System is designed to meet the Global challenges of the 21st Century wherein natural resources are being exhausted, the petroleum industry is unstable and uncertain in terms of cost and supply and the world is seeing a degradation of the Global environment.
Because of the affordability of the QES2000 System, and the creation of significant revenue streams from the by-products, the return on investment is much greater than other competitive systems.
