Smooth Side Trailers

The smooth side material trailer was designed over 15 years ago for a lighter tare weight and improved fuel mileage. When incorporated with a light weight tractor, some haulers have experienced a net payload of 28 tons. The smooth side trailer is for the weight conscious hauler who can control the loading of this light weight trailer. Some customers have also experienced a 1MPG increase in fuel mileage over a post-side trailer.

Being smooth on the outside and longitudinally braced on the inside, the strength of the sidewall is consistent through the length of the trailer. This is accomplished by using a one-piece side sheet of a constant thickness to carry the load.

The VANTAGE smooth side dump trailer comes in a variety of configurations, such as being tapered from 85 inches at the front to 91 inches at the rear. This allows the material to flow freely from a smaller area to a rearward larger area for easy unloading. The smooth side trailer also is available with an inner wall of various thicknesses to allow a hauler to haul material which would normally would ding, dent, scratch or otherwise distort the sides of an average dump trailer.
