SKC WasteModel is a software program for the modeling and analysis of solid waste management scenarios in metropolitan and urban areas.

The software is based on a spatial data map (or geographical information system - GIS). Such a map of the waste generating area is fed into the program, which then divides it into finite elements of area. These elements (any size, but typically 1x1 km for large urban areas) are assigned waste generation properties.

The product then selects the specific zones for each destination landfill site, incinerator, material recovery facility (MRF), or transfer station.

The software predicts the annual costs of disposal of waste for each finite element (typically square kilometers of urban area) for twenty years into the future, thus allowing councils / contractors to plan waste management and cash flow well in advance.
