Solid Waste Planning and Program Management Services

Gannett Fleming prepared a county-wide solid waste management plan for a Maryland county in compliance with Maryland Regulations that demonstrates 10 years of solid waste disposal capacity. Based on revised waste capture rates, solid waste processing and disposal alternatives were evaluated. This supplemental information was used by the county to develop a comprehensive solid waste management strategy and plan of action for the future. As a subcontractor, Gannett Fleming provided full construction and project management services for landfill projects. This work included an ambitious $160 million capital projects program for planning, permitting, design, and construction of projects at the county's solid waste management facilities. Gannett Fleming's responsibilities included design support and construction management services to the county's Department of Public Works. Individual project managers assumed full responsibility for the projects from the initial budgeting phase, through to the end of the warranty phase. Project managers' duties involved handling all owner-related tasks for each project.
