The recycling of construction waste and demolition debris (C&D debris) is a rapidly growing industry in North America because of reduced landfill space. In addition, near-capacity residential and office recycling is causing many solid waste professionals to look at other sectors of the waste stream for reduction. For some time there has been a distinct need for the C&D debris recyclers, equipment manufacturers, and relevant government officials to form a non-profit association in order to increase the exchange of industry information and to promote increased use of recycled materials. Many construction material processors, recyclers, end users, solid waste and recycling officials, consultants, and equipment manufacturers have expressed a desire for a forum to discuss industry issues. That is what the Construction Materials Recycling Association would provide.
