London, UK — VCU Europa has been commissioned to build an in-vessel composting facility by Spanish company, Ropulpat S.L., whose primary business focuses on the treatment and land-spreading of organic sludge.

As registered transporters of animal by-products, Ropulpat S.L., sees the development of the VCU composting facility, which will be situated in Burgos in the region of Castilla y León, as a strategic move into the treatment of animal by-products which they currently contract to other treatment plants (including incineration and rendering) for processing.

The facility will start with a VCU100 system processing 5,000Tpa., composting animal by-products such as bone, blood, feathers, hair, with plans to expand the facility to 10,000Tpa capacity once the first stage is complete.

"Ropulpat selected VCU technology after reviewing European suppliers of composting equipment, citing the VCU's proven performance in treating ABP and the fact that the company was already established in Spain as leading factors in their decision," says Carl Beck, Sales & Marketing Manager, VCU Europa.
