Waste Management names Dan Pio president, Canadian Waste Services, Inc.

Waste Management, Inc. announces the appointment of Dan Pio as President of Canadian Waste Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Waste Management. He will report to A. Maurice Myers, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.

"As Area Controller for Canada for the past three years, Dan has been an integral part of our management team," said Myers. "Dan's extensive industry experience and leadership skills will result in a smooth and successful transition to President of Canadian Waste Services."

Mr. Pio succeeds Jeff Harris, who had held responsibility for both Waste Management's Canadian and Michigan regions. Mr. Harris will now devote his duties full-time to Region Vice President for Michigan.

Mr. Pio has held various positions with Canadian Waste Services, most recent as Area Controller. He previously served in the position of Division Vice President, and also was a Region Controller for Eastern Canada. Before joining Canadian Waste Services, he was Manager of Financial Operations for Laidlaw Waste Systems Ltd.

Mr. Pio earned a bachelor's degree in economics and commerce from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. He also is a member of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada.
