The EE & RE Exhibition puts on display a great set of existing energy technologies and it is a starting point for the launch of innovative products. It facilitates the development of the energy sector and encourages the large-scale usage of energy-saving solutions in South-East Europe. The Region has great potential for the utilization of renewables. Investments for the improvement of energy efficiency in private and public buildings as well as in the industry are underway - South-East European countries are also developing strategies for zero energy buildings. The CO2 reduction in the transport sector is the other priority issue and in the Region solutions for the replacement of fossil fuels with alternative low carbon fuels are sought. The 2016 edition took place together with the complementary exhibitions Smart Cities (energy efficient building, intelligent transport, software and information systems) and Save the Planet (waste management and recycling). Exhibitors from 16 countries participated in the events - companies from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, the USA. The EE & RE Conference is also organized annually as part of the event. In the 2016 edition it included lecturers from 12 countries, and was attended by company and state administration representatives from Bulgaria and abroad.
